Cruisers are warships that escort aircraft carriers and battleships, being inferior to them in terms of size and firepower.

Description

Cruisers are some of the most common capital ships, often being tasked with providing escort for convoys or larger vessels. They feature a bow-mounted cannon turret and two AA guns and SAM launchers, allowing them to provide anti-air firepower for surface fleets.

History

During the Cascadian Conflict, the Pacific Federation and the Cascadian Independence Force operated cruisers relatively liberally; the Federation stationed two of them at Rowsdower Air Force Base and countless more with the 1st Naval Battlegroup.

The Cascadian rebels, meanwhile, used four of them to capture the FNS Jerusalem (renamed CIFS Eminent Domain) and escort it to safer waters. The Federation, in turn, sent numerous cruisers to sink the stolen battleship, but they were sunk either by the Eminent Domain's superior firepower or by Sicario's Hitman Team.

The Federation docked eight cruisers at Wai Mami Port when it was attacked by mercenary forces; all of them were sunk in the process. Both sides also employed cruisers during the CIF Offensive Campaign, with the Federation's own being eventually sunk. The Federation had 17 remaining cruisers (nine of them in the battlegroup) stationed in Cascadia in the final month of the war; all of them, along with most of the Cascadian Coast Guard's own, were sunk.
