"The most bloodthirsty army on Earth and their mercenaries vs. us...a few companies of reservists."
― The Federation Ground Reserve CO

This Commander was in charge of Ground Reservist defenses all across Point Refuge, Magadan and the overall Pacific Federation's first line of defense in the Cascadian Conflict.

Biography

"We're barely holding out each time we fall back to new defensive positions, what's even the point?!"
"I'm not gonna let us just stand and die, look outside and tell me we are prepared to hold any of that off."
― A reservist and the CO

On May 7, AC 432 during the war, Federation ISR detected an amassing Cascadian Independence Force invasion fleet, alerting the Ground Reserve Divisions into constructing a complex line of trenches at Point Refuge within a week, which he oversaw with his fellow officers; regular Federation Military Forces were engaged or regrouping either in Cascadia or beyond Magadan, thus they were in practice on their own.

Once the invasion actually started, the CO pondered their odds against such an overwhelming force and questioned a Sergeant about their chances of survival and defense. The rebels began landing, and Air Reserve Division K-9 was the only air support they could rely on, hence his urgent need. This requirement grew with the fall of the first phase lines and retreating reservists, as well as the incoming mercenary fighters.

The invasion continued, and the CO ordered Fireteam Charlie through Foxtrot to support the trenches of Phase Line Yellow, and molded Reserve Division M with Line Epsilon to repel rebel tanks. Even as mercenary Sk.25U bombers flew overhead, he had mortars launched against the Marines and prepared in advance for the retreat via supply trucks giving away ammo and sending out WIA.

The rebels then unveiled their trump card of the day: The stolen Federation Navy battleship FNS Jerusalem, now CIFS Eminent Domain, which gave the CO a false glimmer of hope as AWACS Vita confirmed the rebel flagship's new allegiance. His last words as the rebel battleship unleashed a full shell barrage on his command post and vaporized him were:

Is that...? Son of a-

The reservist defense was demoralized with his loss, and E-6 Actual took the reins for the remainder of the battle, first ordering his men to stick to their late Commander's plan.

Personality and traits

"All units, all units, remember to pull back when defensive positions are compromised, the Federation needs you alive."
― The CO

The CO sounded very worried of mercenaries because of their power and influence through being hired by Cascadia itself, and was dissatisfied Federation High Command did not take full measures in neutralizing their potential threat after the Oceanian War.

He had deep regard for his men at least in practical terms, requiring as many of them as possible to survive, bolstered by his acceptance of the impossibility of day-one victory fighting an enemy so numerous. For this end, he knew a number of lure tactics with explosive rounds and had the retreat begin ahead of schedule.[2]

Behind the scenes

Cut dialogue would have, aside from other things, established the CO was still in his work apron and that the defense CO promised to appreciate Vita for his squadron's support.
