Mission Cantyll-59-Mono was a daring solo flight to cripple the Cascadian Marine's Chain of Command by assaulting their command post far behind the frontlines. The mission resulted in the destruction of the Cascadian command post, the loss of every high ranking Marine Officer and the complete collapse of the offensive.
Prelude
- "One of my men joked that, well...the tunnel was big enough that you could...fly a plane through there."
- ― 4-4 Actual, debriefing K-9A on his solo op
As the Federation Regular Forces are replenished and sent to the frontlines, the rebels are attempting to protract the invasion, preventing the reinforcing of the remaining contingent forces in Cascadia. At same time, rebels and mercenaries wrecking havoc on the geothermal infrastructure in Magadan.
While Crystal Kingdom drafted offensive plans, they ordered a strike at a Cascadian Marine Guard command post to break the frontline. But due to the increased amount of anti-air emplacements, one was selected due to how unique the Flight Lead K-9A is. The plan was for Driver to fly through the unfinished Highway 1 and to attack the command post alone, while Section 4-4 took out the high ranking officers. The mission was inspired by a subordinate of SOF Section 4-4 Actual, jokingly saying 'the tunnel was so massive you could fly a plane through it.' After the debriefing, Driver boarded his plane and took off to the entrance of Highway 1.
Battle
As K-9A approaches the Highway 1 entrance, Vita notifies him that they'll lose radar and radio contact once inside. Section 4-4 operatives stationed at the tunnel brace themselves from the wake as Driver flies into the tunnel. Upon entering the massive cavern, Driver begins to make his way through the tunnel, while dodging support struts, rocky pillars and the tunnel wall. The revered reservist, accelerating at top speed and taking out a speeding camera, soon starts making contact with rebel sentries guarding the Highway. At first they don't seem to notice the plane approaching, but soon the sentries were caught off guard when seeing a lone plane flying pass them. They attempted shoot Driver down, but to no avail, and tried to warn the command post, only for them to disregard it as a prank.
Driver, reaching the final stretch of the highway, used his afterburners and flew out of the tunnel exit at Mach speed, catching the entire base off guard. The Cascadians began to launch P.28 and all the anti-air in a vain effort to down the lone plane. As the base was being razed, one of the Cascadian Marines contacts General Faust to notify her about the situation. Faust berates the Marine, realizing her plans were now jeopardized. Section 4-4 Actual and her team infiltrated the command post and assassinated every Cascadian Marine officers in their tent amongst the confusion. As Driver finishes off the base, Vita notifies any and all frontline Federation units that 'the head has been cut off,' signaling the offensive.
Aftermath
In the wake of the Cascadian firebase's destruction, Section 4-4 discovers Cascadian divisional battle plans, noting that the 'problem' in Magadan would resolve a lot more sooner than expected. With the chain of command broken, Cascadians in Magadan began to retreat as the full force of the Federation bears down on them, utilizing their own battle plans against them. Eventually, the Cascadians rally with Faust at the initial landing site, Point Refuge.
