"Get the speedboats rolling, we have attackers inbound!"
"Who the hell did we piss off?!"
― Burlok Privateers[1]

The Burlok Privateers were a notorious mercenary group that turned to piracy. They made their money by taxing ships that got near their units under threat of theft and kidnapping. Their headquarters was Fort Daggerpoint on the Jesta Island Chain in the Caribbean Sea, which was undiscovered for a while.[2]

History

"Just drop your guns and look innocent, they’re obviously looking for something."
"It’s a bit late for that, don’t you think? Run!"
"[...] Who the hell did we piss off?"
― The privateers on the run after most of their forces are eradicated[1]

At some point before January 9, AC 432, the Burloks seized the Pacific Federation cargo ship Meilynx, which was carrying a cordium cargo claimed to belong to the Federation Department of Global Energy and Sustainability. This sparked an international incident, and the Burloks refused to hand them over in negotiations.

The privateers' headquarters was exposed on the aforementioned date. Sicario, then on contract to the Creole Republic, was hired by the Federation to defeat the privateers and secure the cargo. The privateers were surprised by Sicario's ferocity and force effectiveness, and as their SOF Ronin landed on their island docks, they decided to drop their weapons and look innocent and retreat off the island. It is unknown what became of its survivors when tie Meilynx's cargo was destroyed, rendering the island mostly inhospitable.

Master Goose Squadron, which arrived late unlike the other employed mercenary pilots, came into contact with Sicario and told them they had no intent to avenge their employers, as they were heading off to Cascadia to take up a contract from the Cascadian Independence Force in their civil war against the Federation.[1]
