"...we'll be moving personnel by helicopter and cargo planes shortly. Hitman, remain on station."
Captain J. Griffiths

Operation Recall was the Cascadian Independence Force's second attempt to retake Prospero, now destroyed and designated a "No Man's Land", and take it from Pacific Federation forces.

This operation also marked the final engagement of the full Crimson Team, which was entirely shot down this time.

Prelude

"We're not the only ones operating out of a highway right now, and we're lucky, you're not even a full squadron. That being said, you're the most combat-capable right now, and in order to rectify that, we're returning to Prospero. With as big as it is, even while damaged, it'll still serve as the best operating base for the final operations."
― Griffiths to Hitman Team

Following the Cascadian Calamity Event that had devastated the entire country, military and civilians on all sides had scrambled to safe zones across the country. However, two full months after the initial disaster, volcanic flareups had ceased and cordium activity levels went back to normal in most areas, in turn resulting in a stop to anomalous natural activities.

With that being the case, the CIF made plans to move back into Prospero - regardless of its inhospitability and damage - to use it as a staging ground for taking Presidia. This was because of its size, as well as the fact that Hitman Team of Sicario was the sole combat-effective unit they had right now. They had also recently made contact with surviving scouts who reported back that the former trade city was now mostly deserted save for small-scale Federation patrols.

Mercenary liaison Captain J. Griffiths with a Cascadian Army convoy to move into Prospero in advance, with helicopters and cargo planes soon to follow once the rubble was secured.

Battle

"Unsurprising, they always return to the scene of the crime."
"Tally ho on three bandits, it has to be him."
"Of course it is."
Crimson 1 and a wingman on arrival

With Hitman Team in the air, the CIF moved into Prospero. Hitman took out a number of patrols, as few as they were around the desolate area. Shortly after, Crimson Team entered the airspace from bearing 000, and Hitman engaged them in a decisive dogfight, where both Peacekeeper and mercenary battled not only with guns and missiles, but words as well, culminating in one of Hitman angrily telling Crimson 1 to shut up.

The battle culminated in the Federation aces being all shot down, with Crimson 1 being the last downed.

Aftermath

"Crimson Team is off the radar. Confirm aircraft destruction."
"We saw it blow up from here. He's down. God, what a waste of a pilot..."
Dominic Zaitsev and J. Griffiths

Following the confirmation of Crimson Team's defeat, Prospero's airspace was reported secured, and the rest of the CIF moved their forces into the city ruins. Hitman Team, exhausted from the difficult fight, withdrew for other squadrons to take their place.

The rebels had taken back the initiative and were now on a proper offensive, and Federation forces were now retreating out of the country or converging at Presidia for a final defense in the country.

Crimson 1, finding himself the sole confirmed survivor of his squadron, was driven insane; he spent the next three weeks securing the now-complete PW-Mk.I and finding collaborators to work with to exact his revenge on the Crowned Mercenary and his allies who took everything from him, which he accomplished with the Presidian Disaster.[1]
