"We have two aircraft crossing into the AO hot."
"Roger, assuming CAP. With any luck, this is one of the second-rate mercs and not the one our Peacekeepers lost track of."
― Federation forces on intercept

Operation Sea Farer was an operation carried out by the Cascadian Coast Guard to secure the Federation Navy battleship FNS Jerusalem, which was recently seized by the former.

Prelude

"The Eminent Domain is a new battleship used by the Federation Navy. Equipped with top-of-the-line armament and an electronic warfare suite, it stuffs most of the utility of an entire battlegroup into its hull. The Independence Force are deploying resupply and escort ships to them ASAP. However, they need air support."
― CIF unit briefer

A few hours prior to operational start, the remnants of the Coast Guard were able to secure and capture the Jerusalem, a new Federation battleship with advanced warfare specs, that strayed too close to the Burning Coast. Renaming it the CIFS Eminent Domain, they were intercepted by numerous Federation Navy ships attempting to take it back or destroy it. In order to resupply the Eminent Domain, escort and resupply ships - the CCS Court and an escorting cruiser - were sent to rendezvous with the stolen battleship off the coasts.

Sicario's Hitman Team was the only asset available to support the operation. However, they were down one member due to him being on a concurrent deployment at the time. Despite this, with intelligence and repairs at stake for the IF, they were deployed.

Battle

"All ships, get into firing patterns! We need to deal with those planes before the battleship gets here or we’ll be in trouble!"
― A Federation ship

Hitman Team was sent up to provide air support for the Eminent Domain and the Court, the latter which remained stationary for the former to rendezvous. Their AWACS, however, reported due to the Solana Communications Array's interference, he was unable to monitor the rest of rebel-aligned air power, but proceeded regardless. Hitman proceeded to engage and destroy a significant amount of Federation naval and air power over the sea before the arrival of the Eminent Domain, which used its armaments to destroy at least 15 Federation ships as well, though sustained major damage to AA armaments. The Federation Navy, despite their holding pattern, underestimated Hitman's combat capability and was unable to get its intercept forces to sink the Eminent Domain before they linked up.

With the sinking of numerous Federation ships, Hitman Team was able to meet up with the Eminent Domain, as well as another Federation battlegroup heading in to intercept the battleship. Woodward, its Captain, introduced himself and supplied new target information as the battle continued. The Federation then decided to focus on the battleship entirely, and one of their own issued an ultimatum to the rebel fleet, which went unheard. Hitman and the rebels engaged and destroyed the rest of the Federation forces in the area, partly with the advantage of bad weather, and the Eminent Domain received a direct RV vector.

Out of options, the Federation deployed a coastal salvo of Kiiyo ASMs in a last-ditch attempt to destroy the Eminent Domain. However, Hitman was able to intercept them all, allowing the Eminent Domain to safely link up with Court.

Concurrently, a lone spy ship, the FNS Cat-Eye, was sailing the same AO as the Federation battlegroup, and was sunk by Hitman. Cascadian intelligence officers would find out that its presence was completely unrelated to the current war, but was instead tracking down rumors regarding the Mercenary Cabal's survival.[1]

Aftermath and legacy

"Not too bad for two aircraft, huh, Monarch?"
Evelyn London

With the Eminent Domain in rebel hands, the CIF now had naval dominance over the waters. From this day onward, it launched bombardments on Federation coastal defenses[2] and blockaded their naval transports.[3] Woodward thanked Hitman Team for their efforts and promised to "raise hell" in their name once his ship properly fell under the IF banner. He even sent them whiskey from the captain's quarters among other gifts.

Eye-Tee, a Federation Air Force WSO, would quip once about the operation being an "inside job."[4]
