The MG-29 is a mid-tier single-seat fighter with good speed and maneuverability. It can fill its six hardpoints with Multi-Lock Anti-Air Missiles or mix in some bombs, rockets, or Multi-Lock Anti-Ground missiles in its second and third slots.

It was the signature aircraft of Peter Kennedy in Sicario's Hitman Team and Stardust flight. All Pacific Federation skins for the MG-29 have "FEDERATION COMMAND" written on the side of the engines.

History

Peter Kennedy acquired and used the MG-29 during his mercenary career in Sicario. It is implied he acquired it by buying it full price at several million dollars, though whether this was a joke or not is uncertain.[1] He flew it during the Cascadian Conflict up until the Second Battle of Presidia, where he lost it to Crimson 1 and ejected. Likewise, the CIF-aligned Stardust flight used it up until they were all downed.[2]

Other mercenary units utilized the MG-29 in various strikes and battles, such as Operation Flash Hazard (four aircraft),[3] Operation Free Agent (six),[4] and Operation Guillotine.[5] The Federation sent two in Operation Sea Farer; both were downed by Hitman Team defending the CIFS Eminent Domain.[6] Six Federation MG-29s were also present defending Prospero during Operation Anticipation.[7]

Trivia

  • Originally, the MG-29 was called the NG-29A and was made by Danya Engineering in the early builds.
  • Skin 5 of the MG-29 is a possible reference to Red Prowling Devil, where the protagonist Naomi flies a similar crimson MiG-29. A similar paint job was used by Erusean ace pilot Mrkos in Ace Combat 04: Shattered Skies.
  • It is modeled after the MiG-29S Fulcrum-C (note the dorsal hump) with the hardpoint stations of the MiG-35.
  • A group of MG-29s behind the tanker at the start of Mission 13 have the Stardust livery without CIF markings and instead mercenary ones. This skin is unattainable in-game.
  • Three CIF MG-29s are parked behind the player's plane in the Highway 34 hangar selection screen.
