F/S-15

From Project Wingman Wiki
Jump to navigation Jump to search

The F/S-15 is a highly maneuverable prototype fighter. It has slightly more weapon options than the Sk.37 Decimator-B due to being able to carry bombs, though has some of the best maneuverability.

Gameplay

The F/S-15 is one of the most heavily armed aircraft in the game, with the most hardpoints (14 in total). This gives it the largest possible Multi-Lock Anti-Air Missile throw (up to 10 hardpoints), albeit with a limited number of reloads (72 missiles in total). Like the F/C-15, it also has a third slot for Multi-Lock Anti-Ground Missiles or bombs, and with one more hardpoint than its older variant.

Skins

  1. Dark blue body with silver nose cone, elevator leading edges, and rudder tips, mercenary and Monarch markings. Strikingly resembles the F-15S/MTD normal skin from Ace Combat 04: Shattered Skies and Ace Combat Zero: The Belkan War.
  2. Two-tone blue camouflage body with silver nose cone, elevator leading edges and rudder tips, Federation Air Force markings.
  3. Gray body with gray-blue stripes along the lower fuselage and wing roots, Federation Air Force markings. Resembles a color-swapped version of the default Federation skin for the F/C-15. Seen throughout the campaign.
  4. Metallic grey body, Cascadian Air Force/Independence Force markings.
  5. Assassin Team livery: Skin 01 with only mercenary markings.

History

Sicario's flagship unit Assassin Team, led by Commander Arnold Frenken, used F/S-15s in varying numbers. They flew them throughout the Cascadian Conflict until the end of the war, where they were all shot down by Crimson 1 in the Presidian Disaster.[1]

Peacekeeping Squadron Steel also flies F/S-15s during the Magadan Invasion.[2] In addition, the Federation 1st Naval Battlegroup was escorted by nine F/S-15s during the Fall of Presidia.[3] In addition, Intercept Specialists Triplication and Churches used them while intercepting Hitman Team in the closing phase of Operation Broken Chain, but were shot down despite their superior aircraft and assistance from airship Gladeus.[4]

Master Goose Squadron, after defecting to the Federation in search of higher fortunes, upgraded from F/D-14s to F/S-15s, flying them to Rowsdower Air Force Base for intercepting Hitman, only to be all shot down and killed.[5] The Federation flew six F/S-15s in the Second Battle of Presidia.[1]

Trivia

  • The F/S-15 is based off the comparably two-seater F-15B ACTIVE, a modified version of the F-15S/MTD technology demonstrator featuring round thrust-vectoring nozzles instead of rectangle ones.
    • Earlier versions of the game identified the aircraft as the F/S-15MTD. To that extent, the F/S-15 is likely based on the F-15 STOL/MTD featured in Ace Combat 04: Shattered Skies, which features a similar single-seat cockpit while retaining the round exhaust nozzles of the F-15B ACTIVE.
